This article will be judged by what is written as a justification and may be deleted or rewritten if the justification does not adhere to the Color Sorting Policies.
This color was named for tradition. Tyrian was the original color of royalty because Tyrian was the oldest cloth dye in history and it was expensensive. Therefore, only royalty could afford it. As dye options became more plentiful, the color chosen to represent royalty has changed but has always remained a shade of purple.
