Revision as of 18:32, 14 February 2020

Using a hexadecimal system there are 16777216 colors to name, based on a 256×256×256 sRGB colorcube. So, instead of listing all 16777216 hexadecimal codes in alpha-numeric order, we will list hexadecimal codes in priority order so that those codes that need names the most will be earliest in the list, for example a priority of 4 means that the color comes from a 4×4×4 sRGB colorcube.

To avoid accidentally using a hexadecimal code that someone else has already named, please add an article to the Talk:Hexadecimal Chart so we can keep this chart as up to date as possible.

Disclaimer: This page DOES NOT contains all of the colors.

Note that a priority X contains with it all priorities that are divisors of X-1, plus 1. For example, a priority 5 contains with it priorites 2 and 3, and a priority 16 contains with it priorities 2, 4 and 6. Take care of this to avoid making duplicate names within the same priority. For example, 00FF00, which has a natural Wiki name of Green cannot be reused for the color 80FF00 when naming the Priority 3 because both are different colors in Priority 3.

¹ The particular color namer used "color name 2" can uniquely name all colors of a priority of 5. However, it does not ensure that every color of priority 4 gets a unique name from a color of a priority 5.
